Resetting the MySQL root password

To reset the MySQL root password on your server, issue the following statements in the mysql client:
UPDATE mysql.user SET Password=PASSWORD(’newpwd’) WHERE User=’root’;
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
exit
Replace “newpwd” with the actual root password that you want to use.
